Lousine Babayan

Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Member of the Scientific Council of the Armenian Association of Speech and Language Therapists, Lecturer at the Faculty of Special and Inclusive Education of the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan.

Education

1992–1997: Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan, Faculty of Special and Inclusive Education, specialization in Surdopedagogy.

2000–2002: Postgraduate studies at the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan, Department of Special Pedagogy.

Professional Experience

1997–2007: Speech and hearing specialist at educational institutions for children with hearing impairments.

2007–present: Lecturer at the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan, teaching courses in surdopedagogy and special education.

2010–present: Expert and consultant in national projects aimed at improving services for individuals with communication and hearing disorders.

Other Professional Activities

Since 2010: Member of expert working groups of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, contributing to the development of policies and guidelines in the field of special and inclusive education.

Participation in international and national conferences, seminars, and training programs dedicated to speech, language, and hearing disorders.

Teaching Experience

Courses taught include: Fundamentals of Surdopedagogy, Hearing Disorders and Their Rehabilitation, Inclusive Education for Learners with Communication Difficulties, and Methodology of Teaching Children with Hearing Impairments.

She has supervised numerous bachelor’s and master’s theses in the fields of special and inclusive education.

Academic Degree

Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences (equivalent to PhD), Lecturer.

Research Interests

Her research interests focus on communication development in children with hearing impairments, inclusive education, early intervention, and the design of evidence-based educational and rehabilitative programs for individuals with speech and language disorders.

Memberships

Member of the Scientific Council of the Armenian Association of Speech and Language Therapists and participant in various professional networks and working groups in the field of special and inclusive education.

Key Trainings and Continuing Education

2018–2023: Participation in international and national training programs, workshops, and conferences on speech and language therapy, inclusive education, and modern approaches to the assessment and rehabilitation of communication disorders.

Publications

Author of more than 20 scientific articles and educational-methodological materials on the education and rehabilitation of individuals with hearing and communication disorders.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Dr. Lousine Babayan is the keynote speaker of the conference. Her academic and professional work is centered on the education, rehabilitation, and social inclusion of individuals with hearing and communication disorders. She has made a significant contribution to the development of special and inclusive education in Armenia through her teaching, research, and expert activities.

Her presentation at the conference will address contemporary approaches to the education and rehabilitation of children with hearing impairments, with particular emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration, family involvement, and the implementation of evidence-based practices.
